Spiderhead

“Spiderhead” is a 2022 Netflix original thriller starring Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Miles Teller (War Dogs), Jurnee Smollett (Birds of Prey), and Mark Paguio (The Twelve).

Instead of going to prison several convicts are participating in a study on a secluded island that involves them taking drugs that’s able to control their emotions such as love, fear, and paranoia. One of the prisoners (Teller) believes something much sinister is going on, and he intends to find out what.

It’s a unique story and has a solid ending. My issues with it are I don’t think they do quite enough with it, it seems to be lacking a bit. Also, the majority of the twists are pretty predictable, I predicted pretty much all of them. Doesn’t mean they’re bad twists, I just saw them coming. The big thing that saves this moving is the acting. It stars the god of thunder himself Chris Hemsworth. I Love Hemsworth, he has the big goofy guy role nailed down, but he’s also a versatile actor. He plays the creepy part very well in this one, not to mention the acting from Teller and Smollett are also pretty solid. I still think it’s worth checking out though, I give it a 7/10.

Extraction

‘Extraction’ is a Netflix original action thriller starring Thor himself , Chris Hemsworth, that has been number 1 on movies for U.S. today since releasing on April 24th. Hemsworth plays a mercenary who is hired and sent to Bangladesh to rescue the kidnapped son of a drug lord. When Hemsworth is double crossed he must fight his way out of Bangladesh to keep himself and the boy alive.

Outside of Hemsworth, ‘Extraction’ stars David Harbour (Stranger Things), Golshifteh Farahani (Body of Lies), Randeep Hooda (Highway), and Rudhraksh Jaiswal.

Netflix is known for bringing in blockbuster stars for their original movies, and ‘Extraction’ isn’t any different with Hemsworth. This is an adrenaline rush from start to finish. It’s pretty much a ‘John Wick’ style film but instead of Keanu Reeves you get Chris Hemsworth. It’s definitely worth the watch. I give it a 7/10.
